The secret to the flavor begins with premium, slow-cooked black beans. We stir in a delicate blend of sweet vidalia and yellow onions, sautéed in extra-virgin olive oil, freshly crushed garlic and a savory mix of authentic Cuban spices. Simmered to perfection, we add sweet red pimentos, apple cider vinegar, a touch of vermouth, raw cane sugar and a pinch of sea salt. We think they are the best frijoles negros on either side of the Florida Straits!
And our Sofrito is the base for dozens delicious Latin American classics and New World dishes. Make classics such as Arroz con Pollo (Chicken with Yellow Rice) and Picadillo (Cuban Sloppy Joes) or popular favorites like Creamy Cuban-Inspired Polenta, Shredded Chicken, tender Braised Beef Short Ribs, light yet flavorful Mediterranean Seafood Pasta or a quick and easy Kung Pao.
